In every culture, there is always one iconic breakfast dish that can easily outshine all the others, without a doubt.For many Armenians, it is the basturma omelette, a family tradition and a favorite.
Basturma is air-dried beef seasoned with cumin, garlic, paprika, and fenugreek paste. In Armenian culture, basturma is thinly sliced and served as a cold appetizer, or grated with eggs for breakfast.
The recipe for a traditional basturma omelette is very simple.
INGREDIENTS
Per portion
- 1 piece egg
- 6-7 pieces basturma
- 40-60 grams butter
- a pinch salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- Slice the basturma thinly
- Place in a frying pan, add oil, fry lightly,
- Pour over the beaten egg, salt, pepper, and bake for 3-5 minutes.
The delicious flavor that basturma adds to eggs is hard to resist or forget. It is so light that it melts in your mouth.
